Laguna Water Champions Earth Hour 2016
Champions of the Environment. Laguna Water’s Regulatory and External Affairs Head Real C. Magtangob (4th from L) along with DILG Region IV-A, City Government of Calamba, SM City Calamba, and Boy Scout of the Philippines Calamba Council led the switch-off event during the celebration of the 2016 Earth Hour.
Laguna Water joined millions of people around the globe as they turned off their lights in support for the 2016 Earth Hour held last March 19.
Earth Hour is a global environmental campaign initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) which started with a lights-off event in Australia in 2007 and now has grown to engage a record-breaking 178 countries this year.
“Sa usapin ng Climate Change atin lamang tandaan ang tatlong Ms: Makialam, Makipagtulungan, at Maki-isa,” shared Laguna Water’s Regulatory and External Affairs Head Real C. Magtangob during the official switch-off event organized by SM City Calamba and attended by partners in both the private and public sector.
Aside from Laguna Water, also present during the event were representatives from Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IV-A headed by Marita Del Valle (Provincial Director of DILG Laguna) and Lenie Bautista (City Director of DILG Calamba), City Government of Calamba represented by Atty. Angelita Alonzo (Legal Officer IV, Office of the ViceMayor), Officers of SM City Calamba led by Maria Abigail Mole (Mall Manager), and Boy Scout of the Philippines Calamba Council represented by Benito Casas (Officer-in-Charge).
Championing environmental sustainability, Laguna Water conducts and supports different initiatives anchored on the protection and preservation of the Earth and its resources, particular its water resource. Some of the company’s programs and activities for the environment are tree-planting activities, Lakbayan (an information drive about the importance of used water management), and Toka-Toka (an advocacy campaign on the commitment to clean and safe water systems).
Laguna Water is a successful public-private partnership between the Provincial Government of Laguna and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, a wholly-owned company by Manila Water Company Inc. (Manila Water), the Ayala-led water service provider in the East Zone of Metro Manila and a leader in the water industry in the Philippines, with presence in Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
