Laguna Water Extends 'TPBS' to More Beneficiaries
Providing Life's Basic Need. Laguna Water, through its Tubig Para Sa Barangay program, grants 20 families in Brgy. Dela Paz, Biñan access to clean, safe, and uninterrupted water.
Realizing that access to safe, clean, and uninterrupted water contributes to sustainable community development, Laguna Water, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, subsidizes water connection of communities exposed to unreliable water sources through its Tubig Para Sa Barangay (TPSB) program.
Early this year, 20 households residing in Brgy. Dela Paz in Biñan benefitted from the TPSB program, thus, allowing them to connect to Laguna Water’s piped water supply network. More than the provision of 24/7 water service, the program aims to insulate its beneficiaries from hazards of contracting diseases from drinking contaminated water.
In a turnover ceremony held last March 31, Arvee Galman, TPSB Program Manager of MWF, explained that the program was created to help struggling communities provide inclusive access to one of life’s basic needs– clean water. She added that since the introduction of the Program in Laguna through Laguna Water, the company has continuously coordinated with local barangay officials to target more beneficiaries suffering from similar circumstances.
Three years ago, TPSB was piloted in Barangay Soro-Soro in the same city, granting 150 beneficiaries access to Laguna Water’s supply network thereby ensuring 24/7 availability of clean and safe-to-drink water. Today, anchored on the expansion of its service area granted by the Provincial Government of Laguna, Laguna Water along with MWF hopes to bring this Program to the different cities and municipalities within the Province with the aim of making safe, clean and uninterrupted water supply available to more people.
“Our organization have built strong partnerships with LGUs and other stakeholders to ensure access to clean water through this unique Program. These partnerships are key in ensuring a sustainable and unbiased delivery of our service to the communities we operate in.” said Real C. Magtangob, Regulatory and External Affairs Head of Laguna Water.
Laguna Water is a successful public-private partnership between the Provincial Government of Laguna and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, a wholly-owned company by Manila Water Company Inc. (Manila Water), the Ayala-led water service provider in the East Zone of Metro Manila and a leader in the water industry in the Philippines, with presence in Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
